Plant-ish

Plant browsing just got personal

Crafted by and for plant enthusiasts

Plant-ish was born with plant lovers in mind. It was envisioned as a comprehensive solution to enrich the plant browsing experience, streamline plant care management, and contribute to botanical awareness — all through a platform designed with user experience at its core.

Plant-ish offers the ability to log in for those that desire an authenticated experience. They can revisit their curated, personalized list for plants of interest. They can even add plants that they already own.

A collector's item inventory catalog? Sure! You can add, edit, browse, and plant — whatever your green thumb desires.

The design system

Plant-ish has an intricate design system that allows for more efficient management of mockups and drives consistency. This design system aids in the reinforcement of the Plant-ish brand identity by defining and standardizing visual elements such as colors, typography, and imagery.

I created many of these components (i.e., plant cards) early on in the design exploration and prototyping phases, for I knew it would make the process of creating new designs highly efficient and consistent later on. Additionally, with design systems being the central source of truth, I wanted to ensure design language consistency in the instance that another team member went into the Figma to ideate on alternative or new features.

Design systems are a two way street. They are great for the user and even beter for designers and developers.

Supported by AI

Plant browsing is easier than ever through the utilization of AI's quick internet and database searching capabilities. Not sure what the price of a Money Tree is? Unable to find the maintenance level of a Bonsai Tree? No problem. Green Thumb AI will not only find the information you are looking for, but it will also go ahead and create the list item for you already containing the information you requested.

My role

On a team of four, I was the lead UX / UI designer for Plant-ish. We were tasked with creating a full-stack website that utalized React and a backend database.

When the team determined our naming and theme, I took to Figma to quickly design mockups and create prototypes that the developers could take and then create the backend of the website. Handing the designs off was seamless as I properly laid out the user-journey and created thorough designs that met all project requirements.

After handing the Figma designs off, I was responsible for various phases of the frontend portion of the website. Indicating to the group that HTML and CSS were my strongest areas, aside from Figma, I helped to ensure that the frontend properly reflected the mockups.
