The problem
Students face various challenges, including studying in social environments and social media temptations. To gain insights, we conducted an online survey and over-the-phone interviews with volunteers. Our findings revealed that while students commonly use study applications and platforms, they lack in areas like reducing external distractions, ease of use, and advertisements.

create a visionOS app, an entirely new platform, that aims to accomodate common distractions and disruptions students face when preparing for exams?

create a visionOS app, an entirely new platform, that aims to accomodate common distractions and disruptions students face when preparing for exams?
The problem
Students today face a multitude of challenges ranging from studying in social environments like a dorm to the temptations of social media and notifications. To get an informed perspective from students, we distributed an online survey via social media and other outlets to explore some general catalysts of challenges pertaining to study habits. In addition to our online survey, we conducted a series of over the phone interviews where we asked volunteered participants specific questions regarding study habits, existing educational platforms, and ways in which they see virtual studying coming to life. Our findings suggested that while there are many existing applications and platforms commonly used by students to study, they still lack in niche areas (i.e., failure to reduce external distraction and noise, general ease of use, advertisements).

Designing for Spatial Computing
When we first began to think about how we wanted to design Tranquil, we needed to understand the fundamentals of Apple Vision Pro and particularly Spatial Computing - the seamless blending of one's physical world with digital content. Apple's Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) allowed us to grasp the nuances of visionOS compared to other platforms like iOS where some of us had prior experience.
Initially, our designs of Tranquil didn't align with the HIG. In Tranquil 1.0, however, we adapted our design to meet the requirements / recommendations from the HIG in order to allow for an immersive experience that is of high quality, and most importantly safe, for users. The transparent windows allow for users to remain aware of their surroundings without disrupting the content they are viewing.
